History Of In-Between (Red Dog Poker) Gambling is a favorite pastime of many people, it has seen many forms since it began. Each form of gambling its own and distinct history. It is said that the history of gambling started with bones and teeth being used as dice in the games. Playing cards are thought to have originated in India, Egypt, or China. They have been used by the Chinese at least since the year 1120. However, it was the Europeans that introduced the modern concept of playing cards to the world of today. Playing cards were probably introduced to Europe in the 1300's and by the end of the 1400's they had caught on and were being played all over Europe. The French devised the designs of spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds on the cards. Soon after, Americans started producing their own cards with modifications like double headed court cards and the joker. The original game of in-between was played in the USA during 19th century but soon fell out of favor. It was found that in-between was a card game that was too easy to cheat in. Also, there were other card games were becoming popular with gamblers, mostly poker. This lead the disappearance of the game. It was in 1931 that gambling finally became legal in Las Vegas and with this, the card game in-between resurfaced with numerous changes. In fact, even its name was then changed to Red Dog Poker. Red Dog Poker is a gambling game played with a standard 52 card deck, and between 1 and 8 decks can be used to play. The value of cards from 2-10 is their face value, jacks count as 11, queens count as 12, kings count as 13, and aces count as 14. The name in-between refers to the way the game is played. A player wages a bet and two cards are dealt face up, one to the left and one to the right. You are wagering that the next card drawn is in-between the first two cards drawn. That is, if a 2 was the first card drawn and a 7 was the second card drawn, you would win if a 3, 4, 5, or 6 was drawn next. If a 9 was the first card drawn and an 8 was the second card drawn (consecutive numbers), the hand is a tie and the player gets their money back. If the first two cards drawn are the same (for example 5 and 5) a third card is drawn. If the third card is the same as the first two, the better wins 11 times the amount they wagered. If the card is not the same as the first two, the better gets their money back. Red dog poker is an easy card game that can be learned by anyone, this game does not require much skill. Although it is very hard to find the game at casinos, there are places online that do offer the game. Some of the websites in the casino section of this site may offer red dog games. It is still fairly unknown among most gamblers, but because it is available online, it has a small but loyal following. history of baccarat history of bingo history of blackjack history of craps history of in-between history of keno history of mahjong history of poker history of pai gow poker history of video poker history of roshambo history of roulette history of sic bo history of slot machines history of solitaire online casinos site index online poker
